Of Bittersweet and Appreciation

Its quite sad that some of our groupmates at ESIY are leaving. ESIY have found them a full time jobs already. The sad part, these persons who are leaving are the persons closest to me. I didn't expect that yesterday morning would be the last time that me and Marichu would be riding the same bus in the morning. It was also the last time that we had our usual conversation of things and laughing and exchanging jokes to each other. It would be sad to walking alone on Arthur street. No more Marichu to bully,no more lunchmate and no more friend to share almost anything under the sun. I am happy that she finally found a job which suited her qualification and I hope all the best for her.

Gisele, also one close friend of mine, was also leaving the program. Like Marichu, ESIY also found a full time job for her. Norman, one of our instructor, asked all who are leaving to give their icebreaker speech. Gisele, did her speech and it was about her experiences, good and bad. She said that one of her bad experiences would be leaving the program and her friends. She mentioned my name and told the group about how we taught her our language and that she'll miss spending time with us. It touched my heart because the little things that I've done for her is being appreciated. For me, being appreciated is one of the greatest feelings that you'll ever feel. I will surely miss her. I only taught her one filipino songs and we haven't played the Sudoku game yet. Sad but again I'm really happy for her.

Adeola, also one of the participant, was also leaving. We became close these past few days, sharing ideas and all. Again, I'm quite sad that he's leaving and yet happy for him.

Marichu from the Philippines, Gisele from Ruanda and Adeola from Nigeria, all of them are my friends. Maybe one of my greatest experience in ESIY is having friends from different parts of the world and realizing that we are all just the same. I hope I can see them and talk with them again someday.
